Russula melitodes en R. puellula in Vlaanderen

Russula melitodes Romagn. and R. puellula Ebbesen, F.H.Møller & Jul.Schäff. are described from collections from Flanders, northern Belgium, and their ecology and distribution is discussed.
Russula melitodes is quite rare, but only rather recently recognised. Before is was most often confused with Russula integra. In Belgium this species seems only associated with Populus (P. ×canadensis, P. tremula), in parks, along roadsides or in deciduous forests, on somewhat humid soils (sandy loam, loam, clay). Russula puellula is also rare in Flanders, and most often found under Fagus on loam and sandy loam.

Thecothecus strangulatus, a seldom reported coprophilous ascomycete

Op oude mest van paarden en runderen, afkomstig uit het natuurreservaat Ingendael (Zuid-Limburg), werd Thecotheus strangulatus (Velen.) Aas & Lundq. ontdekt. Deze soort bleek nieuw te zijn voor Nederland en is ook elders nog niet of slechts sporadisch gerapporteerd. Thecotheus strangulatus kenmerkt zich door de ingesnoerde asci, sterk gekromde parafysen en ruw wrattige sporen. Ze is nauw verwant met de eveneens coprofiele T. uncinatus, die zich kenmerkt door kleinere, fijn wrattige sporen en mogelijke voorkeur voor naaldbossen.

Three species of Heterobasidiomycetes are described from Flanders (Northern Belgium): Tremella discicola sp. nov., a species parasitic in Helotiales, with basidia reminding those of Patouillardina spp.; Achroomyces pseudoconidiatus sp. nov., a bisporic auricularoid species characterised by conidia-like thick-walled abortive basidia; and Helicogloea sp. ‘Schoutteten 03/29’, a clamped species with sacculiform probasidia and claviform basidiospores, found on bark of Rhododendron sp.
